Cylindrical lenses are used to condense, focus or expand light in a single dimension. Typical applications include laser scanners, holography, optical information processing/computing, spectroscopy, dye lasers, and scanning confocal microscopy. Ricun Optics cylindrical lenses are manufactured with precision and are quality-controlled to deliver guaranteed performance in a wide array of industrial, OEM, and research applications, even at high laser power. Cylindrical lenses are more challenging to manufacture than flat or spherical optics, which is why we employ best-in-class polishing techniques and exacting metrology to make every lens. Our laser quality cylindrical lenses are available in sapphire in rectangular, square, and round plano-convex and plano-concave designs. These precision lenses combine low wedge with high surface accuracy, verified on each part using computer-generated holograms and a Zygo GPI interferometer. All are manufactured to 60-40 surface quality with low surface roughness, ideal for high power laser applications and/or for applications where scatter must be reduced for better signal to noise performance. They offer high laser damage threshold with a large choice of laser line or broadband AR coatings at wavelengths from the UV through near-infrared. Our standard cylindrical lenses are an economical alternative for applications where lens wedge and surface performance are not critical. They are offered in rectangular plano-convex or plano-concave lenses made from Synthetic sapphire with 60-40 surface quality, and come with an optional broadband AR coating. Cylindrical lenses must often be custom-matched to the application.
